Meme Competition

Who ever said that online events have to be impersonal and tedious?

As part of the first online BELTA Day on 20 March 2021, BELTA is challenging your creativity: take part in our meme competition!
Create, vote, and earn (inter)national fame in addition to stupendous ELT prizes!
You can enter as a class or as an individual teacher (trainee).

THE CLASS CHALLENGE

Are you trying to bring out your students’ creativity?
Go for memes, fun guaranteed.
It will brighten your day, as well as the day of the colleagues reading them!

THE TEACHER (TRAINEE) CHALLENGE

Tired of working with the textbook? Ready to lift the mood in your classroom? Seize this opportunity to show your ideas and cunning mastery of English teaching tricks.

Who can participate?

Teachers in Belgian schools and their classes

Teachers and teacher trainees in Belgian schools

What do you have to do?

Ask your class to create 4 memes about English classes in corona times.
Entering with different classes is possible.
However, you can only enter one set of memes per class.

Design a set of 4 memes you could use for teaching, centred around a vocabulary
(e.g. word building, lexical field, …) or grammar theme (future, conditionals, adverbs …).
You can enter one set of 4 memes per (trainee) teacher.

What should you do with your (students’) creations?

Submit your creations as jpg/png files by emailing the BELTA Board (beltacompetition@gmail.com) before March 13.
Please clearly mention your name, the participating class, your school and your email address in the email.

What will happen next?

The memes we receive will be posted on the BELTA Facebook page for all to admire after the final deadline of March 13.
The Board will make a first selection, and the top 5 memes will be judged by the online event participants on BELTA Day.
Please make sure you register for BELTA Day so you can perhaps witness your or your students’ victory first-hand!

Why, you wonder, would you do this?

Well, it’s a real competition and you can win fabulous ELT prizes for your class or for yourself.
Remember, only (trainee) teachers present during the online BELTA Day on 20 March can receive prizes.
