Dear BELTA friends,
On 30 April 2022, we will all meet again in Brussels for a live edition of our annual conference, BELTA Day.
In the past two years many of us had to adapt to completely new ways of teaching and interacting with students and colleagues. Professional development was not a choice but a must and we all realised how important it is to keep up to date in our field, and learn continuously from experts, colleagues and students.
For this edition of BELTA Day, we focus on BELTA's primary mission, i.e. to encourage the professional development of English language teachers.
The 2022 theme 'Inspiring Collaboration' indicates how inspirational it can be when teachers collaborate and share their experience and best practices. At the same time we hope that this edition of BELTA Day can lead to attendees collaborating even more with their peers when they return to their schools.
We are thrilled to have Silvana Richardson (UK) as our plenary speaker.
She will focus on professional development in her plenary: Collaborative approaches to learn and innovate together.
Silvana: "I would like to focus on this topic because as well as being my main area of specialism, I strongly believe that after two relentless years of the most challenging conditions for educators, and as we begin to slowly emerge from the pandemic, it's vital to consider how to continue to support teachers and their learning in the aftermath. Teachers are exhausted, need to regroup and to find new sources of inspiration and mutual support."
We received some great proposals from speakers with very different backgrounds. It will not be easy to make a choice out of the 15 sessions offered. They cover a wide range of ELT related topics and are presented by speakers from all over Belgium and abroad. Some are already well-known to the BELTA audience but we are also delighted to welcome first-time speakers this year. Thank you all for submitting! You will make BELTA Day 2022!
As we want to introduce something new every BELTA Day, we are bringing all delegates together again in the afternoon for the last slot.
We go back to the theme of the day with a short session about Continuous Professional Development, followed by a panel discussion.
Then some invited panellists will share their views with the audience, who can of course ask questions afterwards.
The day will end with the traditional and very popular raffle. Everyone can win great prizes, donated by our generous sponsors.
We are also thrilled to revive the Joris De Roy Memorial Grant, which could not be awarded in the last few years because of the pandemic.
No less than TWO lucky winners who apply for the grant on BELTA Day, will get financial support to attend the IATEFL Conference in 2023!
It is great news that a larger than ever number of publishers and other ELT related companies and organisations will be present in the exhibition hall. They invite you all to come and have a look at what they can offer and do for English teachers. BELTA is very grateful for their support!
So, don't hesitate and just register now. Although prices had to go up compared to 2019 - mainly because of increased venue and catering costs - we are sure that the prices are fair for this unique conference of English teachers.
Remember that you can ask your school for financial support for your professional development. BELTA will issue certificates of attendance to all delegates and proofs of payment if needed.
Registration is open now and will close on 23 April 2022.
Please click on the buttons on the top left of this page to get all information about the schedule, the plenary, the speakers, registration, the sponsors and all practical details.
Keep an eye on the BELTA website as well as on our social media pages in the coming weeks for the latest information about BELTA Day 2022.
Please share our event with your colleagues and ELT networks. Indeed, why not come to Brussels together?
We are looking forward to seeing you on 30 April 2022!
