Abstract

When it comes to developing listening skills, how much time and effort do you put into it? Are children naturally good listeners, or is it a skill we can all improve over time? Understanding what is being said is the foundation for speaking, writing, and reading, and for that reason, it should be steered carefully from an early stage of language learning. To train your listening skills, you should listen actively, which means paying attention to what is being said or read. How can audiobooks, YouTube, or popular songs assist in developing your students' listening skills?

Biographies

Anita Žepina and Suzana Anić-Antić are primary school teachers who have been working with all age groups for more than fifteen years. They have collaborated on many projects, from digital materials for Croatian Academic and Research Network (CARnet) to coursebooks, the last one being Tiptoes 4, a coursebook for grade 4. In recent years, they have been working on a project of distance learning for the Ministry of Education, making video lessons used on the national level. Since 2019, Anita has been a part of an expert group working on a project of curricular reform as a teacher mentor, while Suzana started working at the Faculty of Teacher Education.
