Using benchmarks texts when correcting writing and speaking assignments

In this talk we will present the findings of a research project in which we have developed a placement test for pupils who start English lessons in secondary school. We will focus on the tasks developed to assess productive skills and, in particular, on the way teachers can correct pupils’ tasks in an efficient yet reliable manner by using benchmark texts.

Biography

Vanessa De Wilde is a PhD student and teacher trainer of English at Ghent University and Artevelde University College Ghent.
Geert De Meyer is a teacher trainer of English at Ghent University and Artevelde University College Ghent.
Pedro De Bruyckere is a teacher trainer and researcher at Artevelde University College Ghent and Leiden University.
