Abstract

Emotions are like a river that can take a boat successfully from one place to another, or where you can cleanse yourself, or even make a dam and use its energy when necessary. However, a river can overflow its banks and dams can also break, having devastating consequences. We are all emotional beings too, and as emotions greatly influence cognition, memory, motivation and behaviour, they can either help learners make progress or they can become obstacles in their learning.
In this interactive session we will briefly look at the role of emotions in learning and explore some practical examples we can use in our classes to help learners use their emotions to their best interest in self-awareness and learning.
