IATEFL Glasgow 2017 – Apply for scholarships!

30/11/2016 - 16:12

As an associate of IATEFL, we are always very happy to share IATEFL updates, especially about attending the annual conference! We know how interesting and how much fun it can be to make the trip and meet other English teachers from all over the globe-in fact for many of us, attending IATEFL is one of the highlights of the year!- . So, read on and learn all about how to attend IATEFL for less than the regular fee!

Membership of IATEFL brings with it many benefits, as you know; one of these is being part of our international community of educators. For many of us, however, attending the annual IATEFL Conference in the UK is less of a benefit and more of a dream; a dream that we think can never come true.

However, did you know that there are scholarships which will give you money to attend the annual IATEFLConference? Some scholarships require you to give a presentation at conference, some do not. Some scholarships are offered in memory of influential educators, some are sponsored by publishers or commercial organisations, some are offered by IATEFL’s own Special Interest Groups [SIGs], some are sponsored by private individuals, some are for residents in specific locations. But they all have the same aim – to get educators from our global community to our annual conference.

The current list of scholarships is now live on our website http://www.iatefl.org/scholarships/current-list-of-scholarships

The closing date for all applications is 21 July 2016, and we will let you know the outcome of your application by early September. Every scholarship is different, so careful reading is really important. Information about applying for scholarships can be found here: http://www.iatefl.org/scholarships/scholarships-how-to-apply. Applications are read by a panel of experienced readers supported by the IATEFL Scholarship Working Party, and the panel’s decision is final.

Each year at Conference, we have a Winners Gathering, where our winners can meet their sponsors, the Scholarship Working Party and the President of IATEFL. Each year, winners say to me “I never thought I would win”. Someone has to win – but you can only win if you apply!

So please, go to the scholarship page above, and start reading and applying – and we hope to see you in Glasgow in 2017.
