Never the twain shall meet? Differences in teaching general and business English -Marjorie Rosenberg

General English teachers may be reluctant to make the change to business English, especially if they have never worked outside of the school or university system. However, this stretch into a new area may be less daunting than many think. There are differences, of courses, as business English may be more purpose-driven and needs to include specific areas of vocabulary, but for those interested in taking on the challenge, this workshop aims to provide practical tips on how to get started.

Marjorie Rosenberg teaches general and business English at the University of Graz. She has published widely in the business English field and has authored two of the workbooks for the Cambridge University Press flagship series, Business Advantage. Marjorie has also written two books with photocopiable materials for business English instruction and writes activities and ‘jargon busters’ for Professional English Online, the CUP website. She is currently the coordinator of the Business English Special Interest Group of IATEFL as well as being on the IATEFL Membership Committee.
